CHURCH IN THE PARK

GO REACH THE WORLD

Because of the overwhelming response we had from students who participated in Mexico 2012 “Listen2Him,” the HSM Crew is providing a cross-cultural service opportunity right here in Modesto! Church in the Park is a ministry to the needy and homeless in Modesto which provides a meal, warm clothing, and a life-changing message of hope in Jesus Christ. HSM has partnered with CITP for one Sunday, June 10th, to staff these compassion opportunites: Preaching, Worship Band, Set-Up and Break-Down, Food Preparation and Clean-up, Food Serving, Children’s Ministry, and the Clothing Bank. You don’t have to travel to Mexico to GO REACH THE WORLD, there are many in need right here in our own town. Join us Sunday, June 10th, as HSM sponsors Church in the Park.

SENIOR COMMISSIONING

The pinnacle of 13 years of rigorous education (earned with endless homework, projects, events, teams, tests, and all-nighters) comes to a head this week as our most amazing Seniors graduate from High School. You did it, you’re finally here! And, we, here at High School Ministry (HSM) want to say loud and clear, “We are very proud of you!” It is our honor to commission you this Wednesday Night, May 23, at 6:30pm in The VENUE at Big Valley Grace Community Church, Modesto Ca.

It’s really only the beginning. You see, as a follower of Jesus Christ (a disciple) you aren’t graduating from the faith; you are owning it for yourself. You are embracing a way of life that you choose, that you believe, that is your faith. You will abide in Jesus, you will direct his love towards others, and you will be the witness to the resurrection power of Jesus Christ alive and well within you. You are a disciple, and we praise Jesus for your life. Come party with us as we celebrate the hope of glory, Christ in you.

MEXICO 2012 DAY 6

Yesterday was amazing..

  1. One site had four walls and a dirt floor.  We were able to provide building supplies, windows, doors, as well as beds to sleep in.  Praise God!
  2. At another site students only had enough money to do one service project.  God put it on their hearts to take a collection amongst themselves to buy a guitar for a church.  God took what they gave and fulfilled both needs.
  3. God also allowed us the opportunity to provide a crib for a family that was in need.  They had a sick child who had been sleeping in a bassinet at the age of 4 years old.
  4. Students shed tears as they left behind children they shared the gospel with this week.

We wrapped up the night with worship, anointment by the elders, prayer, and student testimonies.  God has made it clear to us that he wanted us here, and listening to what He wanted.  We still have about a day and a half left on this trip.  We are really excited to see how God continues to speak to us over this time.

Prayer requests…

  1. Please pray for health and safety as we cross the border.
  2. Pray for the families that God provided materials for.
  3. Pray for a smooth transition at the border.
  4. Pray for this to be a lasting impression for the families and pastors here as well as our own students and leaders.

As always thank you for being a part of our team and “Listen2Him”.

Yesterday God did amazing work through our students.  Groups are finishing projects quicker than expected and having fun while doing it.  God is taking what we have and multiplying it so we can meet the needs of the churches and pastors.  There is a pastor who is raising his grandchildren in a house with a dirt floor and no windows or doors.  We are continuing to pray that God will take what we have and multiply it so we can help provide for there basic need of shelter.  He is already started by providing a person in town who is will to sell us doors at an incredible discount.  The God we serve is amazing!

Last night our students were at a youth rally put on at the local activity center.  Members from our spanish service put on an amazing concert that the students loved!  God used our students to lead by example through worship and games.  We are proud of our students and are enjoying the astounding spiritual transformation we are seeing.

Prayer requests…

  1. Please continue to pray for the health and safety of our students and leaders.
  2. Pray that God will take what we have and multiply it so we can meet the needs of the churches and pastors we partner with.
  3. Today is the last day to do work at our worksites.  Pray that God will give our students the strength they need to finish strong.  Also pray that during the student’s VBS time, children here in Mexico will open their hearts to Jesus.
  4. Please begin to pray for our return the the United States as well.  Pray that as we leave tomorrow, God will protect us from any harm or danger.  Also pray that there are no problems at the border so our transition back into the USA is smooth.

Thank you again for partnering with us in prayer!

MEXICO 2012 DAY 4

Today started out bright an early with a fantastic breakfast.  Our cook team is doing an amazing job keeping all of us fed.  After breakfast our 7 teams were off to their sites for our first day of work.  Arriving on the scenes most groups were ready to tackle their painting projects.  They painted both inside and outside of churches as well as other various buildings.

Students are showing an incredible amount of spiritual maturity.  When problems have arrived pastors and leaders have helped students realize they need to “Listen2Him”.  We are seeing godly and unselfish choices being made.  We are  incredibly proud of the spiritual growth in our amazing students.

In the evening after work, VBS, and dinner, students had a time to share their amazing stories of how God was speaking to them throughout the day and this trip.  A major theme that was expressed during this time was how God was telling students to not take for granted things we have back in the United States.  Children here seem to be happy with the little things in life.  God is amazing!

Prayer Requests…

  1. Please continue to pray for health and safety of our students and leaders.
  2. Pray that we would continue to seek and listen to what God has to say to us.
  3. Pray for the students as they share the gospel with children and families.
  4. Pray that tomorrow night has a great turnout at our outreach for the youth in the community.  Pray that God will work through our students and use them as a vessel to communicate his love for them.
  5. Pray that God uses our spanish led worship team to put on a great performance and that they will be well prepared for this incredible event.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers.  You are a vital part of our team!
